Made with an extra durable pump borrowed from our professional line of pressure washers, this unit can withstand the rigorous demands of frequent use and delivers an amazing 2000 PSI, more than 40 times as much pressure as a typical garden hose. Equipped with two spray wands, the K 5.690 is able to tackle any cleaning project around the home. For tough jobs, attach the included DirtBlaster spray wand to increase the effective pressure by up to 50-Percent. For less intense cleaning, attach the included Vario Power Spray (VPS) wand, which allows you to adjust the pressure right on the wand. This model comes equipped with an onboard detergent tank that makes detergent application a snap. Simply insert one Karcher SoapPac into the tank, fill with water, attach the VPS spray wand, select the low pressure setting and apply the detergent mixture to the area you wish to clean. I used it for two days, then the output pressure went down about a third and water was leaking out the bottom. I went through the checklist to make sure I was doing everything correctly. I was and it was broken, somewhere inside. Maybe a seal, maybe a crack, I don't know. At any rate, Amazon quickly replaced it with a new one. After 3 days the new one broke, exactly the same way! I couldn't believe it. Now I am sending the second one back to Amazon and getting my money back. This thing was a real piece of junk. DO NOT buy one. It took us a couple of tries to get it assembled properly (and I still haven't changed out the wand because the connection is pretty tight). Other than that, we love it! I didn't know that I could use a pressure washer to clean our cars - that's been a really great improvement in how often they're actually clean and shiny. The Karcher blasted off moss and dirt in the crevices and on the roof of our SUV for far too long. If I only had a vacuum with this much power, I'd really be in business! Frankly, I love this product. It's easy to use and I think that any homeowner or small business owner would find many uses for it. I wanted a dependable lightweight backup electric pressure washer which would be easy to move for lighduty around the house jobs. After checking several internet comsumer reviews I purchased the K3.540. So far I used it once cleaning the sidewalks and driveway. The pressure washer did its job beautifully with easy assembly and no leaks. The top rated water cooled induction motor only runs only on demand. I found this shut-off feature to be really nice. When you release the trigger handle on the wand and stop washing, the motor shuts off which should give longer pump life. The Karcher K 3.540 X-Series is an Excellent value for a lighduty electric pressure washer. This unit has higher quality components and seems to be better engineered than others at this price point. The pressure was great for an electric, very quiet. That being said, after a few uses things started breaking. In Karchers defense, the main unit itself was great. The pencil spray wand broke while doing the driveway, and the vari-spray wand broke the third car wash. So while its a great product, lifespan is less than adequate. Note: the wands can be replaced for a low price, but I wanted something a little more heavy duty. ProTip: Get a pressure washer with metal tips. A good gas was $450 +. The price, size, weight, noise, winter storage, convenience aspects, along with the lack of gas engine maintenance were deciding factors. I've used it four times so far. Pressure is adequate for around the house. Indeed, too much pressure can be damaging. The downside is that it's an upright, prone to falling over especially on uneven surfaces. The second time it did so, the supplied plastic female quick connect hose fitting on the water inlet broke... only available from Karcher, I suspect. Other reviewers have mentioned this across the cloud. My solution was a big box store fitting called "swivel hose adapter". Made by Watts # A-661 GH1. It's 3/4 female pipe thread on one side and 3/4 female garden hose thread on the other. It fits the 3/4 FIP male water inlet on the machine & the 3/4 male on your garden hose. It eliminates ordering a bag of replacement fittings from Karcher... And in fact it does have decent power for many minor tasks like cleaning a walk or small deck. Also I am reasonably confident the pump is well built and will perform exceptionally well. The cons are: a) the design is such that as another reviewer said it is gauraunteed to tip if you inadvertently pull on it at all, which is annoying, 2) the hose reel is designed such that this is nearly ensured, 3) way too much plastic that tends to deteroriate in the sun and / or break through use, and 4) it comes with a short 25' hose and short tip (3') so trying to clean anything over 6' req's a ladder or purchase of additional (and expensive) add-ons (the 35' power cord help some). This is a good washer for someone in the 'burbs that stores it in their clean garage and pulls it out a few times a year to clean their already reasonably clean walks and decks, but it is far from what...
